Stay connected during your city break!

October is here and it’s time to start planning for this autumn’s city breaks. One of our favourite cities is Rome, where visitors still have a chance to enjoy the sun for a little while longer! Except the obvious visits to the Coliseum and Fontana di Trevi, there is so much more to see and explore. For example visit Villa Borghese Gardens for a lovely stroll.

Rome is a city best seen by foot, which gives you the opportunity to see some amazing architecture and stumble upon hidden boutiques, restaurants and bakeries.

Besides the architecture and the many museums well worth a visit, you should of course also enjoy some lovely Italian food. If you’re the type who loves to cook, why not take a cooking class and learn how to make the perfect pasta? If you’d rather just eat, without any extra work, then make a stop at Trattoria Da Sergio Alle Grotte, which is a small and intimate Trattoria with an amazing Pasta Carbonara!

Now you can stay connected in the Netherlands!

At HolidayPhone we always strive to expand our product portfolio with new destinations. We have listened to what you, our customer, would like to see on our site and we are pleased to announce that we have just launched the Netherlands as a new destination!

When we think of the Netherlands we often think of Amsterdam as the go-to destination. Amsterdam has a lot to offer with its beautiful canal, Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh museum. But the Netherlands has a lot more to offer.

Here are some of our favourites:

Spring flower bed in Keukenhof, the Netherlands

The Netherlands are known for their windmills and the best place to see these are just outside a village called Kinderdijk. Here you’ve got 19 windmills, built around 1740, all concentrated in one place.

Besides Windmills, the Netherlands are also known for their beautiful tulips. A visit to Keukenhof Gardens won’t disappoint anyone looking to see this typical Dutch flower, as they have close to 4,5 million! If you are visiting the garden the best time to do so is in the spring.

A beautiful city, which sometimes ends up in the shadows of Amsterdam. It has a lot to offer, you can for example visit the Euromast tower and dine high above sea level with a view of the largest port in the world or you can simply enjoy the lovely architecture.

Happy travels!

Holiday spots for thrill seekers

Everyone at HolidayPhone loves a little bit of rush and adrenaline, so we have listed three of the most fast-paced places to visit for thrill seekers like us.

When Verrückt opens later this month at Schlitterbahn Waterpark in Kansas City, Kansas, it will be the tallest waterslide in the world. It stands 51.38 meter high (the same height as the Niagara Falls!) which means that sliders can reach speeds of up to 104.6 km/hr. This is not for the faint-hearted!

Dubai Autodrome
Dubai is known for it’s cars and races, and the Dubai Autodrome offers thrilling experiences for the speed junkie. We would love a go in the F1-style single seater, which will take you from 0 to 100 km/hr in just 4 seconds!

Thames Rockets
Experience what makes Great Britain truly great in a way you’ve never done before. The Thames Rockets speedboat will take you down the River Thames at high speed whilst teaching you about the UK in a fun way. This is the perfect activity for someone who wants knowledge and a thrilling experience.

Travel guide: London

London is a lovely city to visit during spring when the temperature is starting to rise, the parks are in full bloom and you’re able to enjoy the many beer gardens available. The Easter weekend is a perfect time to explore everything this magnificent city has to offer so we’ve listed some of our favourite spots in London – beyond the usual tourist attractions!

London is the shopping capital of Europe and there’s a store for almost everything.

Of course we all know about Oxford Street, but that’s the issue: everyone knows about it. It’s usually pretty crowded and many of the stores can be found back home as well. Instead we recommend Seven Dials, just a short walk from Oxford Street. It’s a lovely area with a wide variety of stores and you can find everything from clothes, shoes and bags to books and quirky decorations for your home.ShoppingBags

Afternoon tea
The UK is often associated with the tradition of Afternoon Tea and there’s so many places to choose from, it almost makes us dizzy.

One of our many favourites is the Mad Hatter’s Afternoon Tea at Sanderson Hotel. The hotel has a luxury feel with a kitsch twist and the Afternoon Tea is of course following the same style. With an Alice in Wonderland theme the menu is situated within a vintage book, the sugar is served from a jewelry box, the tea from a teapot representing the White Queen, but most importantly: it tastes heavenly!Afternoon Tea at Sanderson Hotel

For the kids
During Easter weekend London is filled with activities for kids and there’s Easter egg hunts all over town, but we think Kew Gardens could be a favourite for the little ones.

With the theme of Charlie and the Chocolate factory they are not only organising a chocolate Easter egg hunt but also a workshop for the kids to do their own Willy Wonka inspired chocolate bar, come up with crazy recipes in the factory or dress an Oompa Loompa.EasterEggs
